The Best of My ITUNES :)

Erm. So...The side of me that is insanely passionate about music has been, i dno, AWAKENED(momentarily) by some of the songs I've been listening to lately on my iPod...as usual. I get phases, 'kay??? Yeah so I'm here to share some with ya'll :)

And I shall sidetrack before I even begin. LOL!

I've been suuuuper duper hooked on the song "Nature Boy" and i thought I'd do a little comparison between the two versions that I'd downloaded.

So it's NAT KING COLE's version of Nature Boy VS. DAVID BOWIE's version (as heard in Moulin Rouge).

I'll start with the one i favour, personally lah. haha. which is david bowie's. His version is slower to that of Cole's, and he did it in a totally different key as well.

But what makes it SO SUPERB is the musicality. He sets this...slightly eery and melancholic feel which is so awesome. Uses mostly violins which come in two different parts but which blend perfectly well together, accompanying the melody so, so, so, so well. When i listen to this song, i tend to close my eyes and listen closely in to the orchestral parts...just to listen to how greatly the instruments and the voice infuse together. The best part is how the song pans out. Very very clever how the song builds up to this amazing climax with just the use of orchestra instruments. And the climax is not the ending part la, it's somewhere in the middle (for me) and...do i hear a GONG? hahaha.

I LOVE THIS SONG. must go listen okay.

Anyhoos. So, Nat King Cole's one probably sticks to the lyrics of the song a little bit more. His also incorporates a lot of orchestral instruments...not only using string instruments, but woodwind as well (think i heard the flute? clarinet?...not so sure but yeah i think so la) and ZOMG, the HARP. like, i've nv heard anyone use the harp before in their songs :S
But it was kinda cool :) Its mood is more...i dno. storybook-like i guess. Focuses more on the adventure part of things and it's cool cause u can just easily gather that from listening to it. It's definitely more mellow and takes a little bit of patience to appreciate it LOL. Howeverrrr, it's really nice after a while and i especially looove the very short violin & piano solo in the middle.

Oookay. So...there's no point to saying this la. HAHAHA. zomg. i'm such an NPG :( :( lol just in case if people were interested in this song la but dno which one to listen to or smt. altho there are a gazillion other versions i think but which i didn't bother to dwnld.

Yap, SO. getting a little lazy here, so i'd just skip the whole itunes thing la -_-" HAHAHAHAHAHA. i'd just recommend something for if y'all wna listen to smt MELLOW for you chillax-ed mood.
kla so this is not purely from me la. a lot of ppl have recommended me PRISCILLA AHN. she is SERIOUSLY awesome. just (Finally) listened to her album "A Good Day" but you really need to listen to it on a good day la. haha. need loads of patience and mood to listen one loh. but that's just me, maybe. the ultimate best song is "Dream". might've heard it on grey's anatomy n wondered hrrmmm wht's that song??? cos i know i did!! this song is mostly guitar & cello (my fav!) based. n the part where her awesome possum voice was just accompanied so simply by 3 piano notes and a few pulls of the cello is SUPER AWESOME TO THE MAX it makes me swoon. on the bus. in the morning.
...but then i will soon get sick of it...the song, i mean. :S

Okay. these people, i nv knew existed. hahaha. stole them off my sister's itunes! they're called AZURE RAY btw. didn't really listen to their whole album, but kinda screened them to find which i should add. i know i used to love "we are mice" SOOO much but i'm kinda over it hehe. "Sleep", "Don't Make a Sound", "Displaced", "Rise" and "For No One" are the ones i'd chosen out of the screen lol. very nice la all.

Yeap so that's about it....im su're another one of these types of post will be coming soon...when i start having my bouts of insanity again. or, as many people call it, "passion". i just think i damn weird la.

AWAKEN, THE DIABOLICAL!!

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

meet my NEWEST BESTEST BEST FRIEND!!!
(sorry, my bestest best friend)

need a better look???

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

After spending the very very eventful morning killing ANTS with THIS:

(air freshener la)

AND THIS:

(my wallet la)

I have kept in mind THE WHOLE DAY to buy some ant poison right after school.

And for $3.50 or so, I GOT IT.

muahahahahahahahahahaha.

so the whole time i was studying in Frank Tate,

eating kompia (yums!...n thnx kim, kat, leen, ames, py) and kim's other dishes,

eating BORA-BORA,

chatting about life,

walking to the bus stop,

taking the bus home,

walking home,

I COULDN'T stop thinking about how my best friend would lure those BLASTED ants out of their hole.

TIME TO DIEEEEEEEEEEE.

kla so i think i was a bit enthu hahahahaha.

stuck HELL LOT of cellotape in the hopes of creating extra traps for them infesters.

oh and the white thing at the bottom? IS WHERE I BELIEVE THEIR NEST LIESSSSS.

stupid shit. go live in the socket-thingo. PMO.

yeah anyways so i took some time to ascertain where they originated from and started workinnnn'

and wooooh!!! the product of just a few minutes :) :) :)

positively beaming!!!

and i just can't help myself from checking every few SECONDS to see its progress

but the instruction said to leave it for 2 MONTHS.

as in, dood. it'd take 2 MONTHS to target the queen and kill 'em all.

i lack the patience or the self-control to wait 2 mths to see results.

yeap.

so i'm supposed to be studying for midsem, but HERE I AM, WATCHING ANTS DIE.

...but i gotta say it kinda provides an immense sense of satisfation though

:D

NO Cause for Celebration

The air in the kew house is SOLEMN.

...at least, that's what i think it is. cos it certainly feels like it in the LIVING ROOM (where i'm at lol). and most probably in cousin wee's room too.

so why all this sadness????

reason is that COUSIN ONG is leaving for kuching for gooooooooood :( :( :(

eh really sad la. i can so feel the pending emptiness of the house bereft of ONE person's presence (a very large person in the midst of all us girlies, mind u) and the quietness it leaves behind.

SIGH.

kew family is left with only oestrogen now. boo hoo.

Anyone remember eating chocolate right out of a stick?

Hi peeps. I've been MIA for a looooong time now (partially cause i'm just way too lazy to blog, and also because MS. LEAH LOH IS GRRRR-INGLY PUTTING OFF POSTING MY PICS IN BRISBANE!!!) leah u suck.

Anyways. Uni's started....and i'm studying loads...and life's kinda halted (not in a good way) for the moment. o sigh.

Partial emo-ness aside, got story to tell lah.
...So, I was at Laguna right (laguna's this asian supermarket for those that don't know) and GUESS WHAT I SAW?!?!?!??! i saw my childhood favourite: choki choki chocolate in a stick!!!! as in the plastic tube with a koala's face on it and milk chocolate oozing out of it.

Yeah, so guess my excitement right. and i exclaimed "OH MY GOD!!!! CHOKI CHOKI!!!!" and reached out to grab the box. (was exclaiming to aileen la LOL i'm not THAT much of a loser [sorry, losers] to shout to myself :S shame on you for thinking so)

Anyhoos. then suddenly some angmoh guy from behind me went "Is it that good?"

And i was like. trying to act nonchalant. LOL. n said that it was like a very very good childhood snack (was dying of embarrassment here please). inside i was thinking...shit. did i say choki choki THAT loud? But he asked me to explain what it was lah. so i told him it was basically chocolate out of a stick. i think then and there he prbly thought it was the most rip-off snack-thing ever in the world (one box was friggin 6 aussie dollars can u bliv it!!). so i laughed and ran off. hahaha.

Wells, from now on, i ain't gna get all excited over a stick of oozing liquid chocolate ever again. lol. And it shall be time to await on leah for pics!!! -_-" leah u better.

The Wind is Blowin', and the Chimes are....Chimin'?

One thing i have to CONTINUOUSLY hammer into this thick skull of mine:

EXAMS

FRIIIIGGGGIIIIN
OVER!!!!!!

have to STOP feeling like i need to study liaw la -_-"
annoyance.

ANYHOOOS!!

i sound like i'm damn high now hehe cos sometimes it sinks in that i have ONE WHOLE MONTH of lazing around to do but sometimes i feel the panic of exams.

which is highly retarded.

anyways...

something ms. cha siew pau (who debuted on my blog in the previous post) said during PHYSIO PRAC EXAM.

now i'm going to place the goniometer on your

lateral FEMININE condyle

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

oops, i mean your lateral FEMURAL condyle.

oh wait, no your glenohumeral joint line.

not even placing the axillary (armpit) crutches under your ELBOW.

lookin' forward to hearing receiving more entertainment from yah, csp. aka MMM = MUFFIN MAKIN' MASTER.

and we shall be a-baking some BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING 2mr yooo

YUUUUUUMS.

Good Riddance!!!

Today i say goodbye to the not so brain-friendly biomed.
go on your merry way!!
as i enjoy my days without you muahahahahaha.
though i am still to encounter some of your mates for the next 3 and a half years of my life..
that is, if i manage to scrape through to the next semester.
LOL. i'm surviving by semesters.
how sad :(

but what a way to celebrate indeed!
made MUFFFFFFFINS at ms. cha siew pau's place.
ok la so my brain was practically baking together with the muffins la.
and now i think it's chao ta alrdy.
courtesy of the very very eventful night/morning (dripping with sarcasm can)
omg la i have NEVER finished one exam at 4.30 pm,
gone straight to the computer lab to study,
get home at 10 p.m. to study some more until 2 in the morning until i just couldn't take it anymore, fell asleep and woke up at 5 a.m. to continue cheonging
then got ready and straight to the bus stop at 8 in the morning.

THEN MY BUS BROKE DOWN -_-"
but (god loves me) another one came in 3 minutes hehe
and amazingly (got loves me part II) the bus reached EARLY cos usually on other days take about an hour to get to school
cheonging session continues in the bus
motion sickness set in. wanted to puke daaaamn bad la.
so anyways, biiiiig lesson: THAT much study material is NOT meant to be done in ONE NIGHT.
and the worst part is, despite all the cheonging and stress,
i STILL came out of the exam hall thinking "okay, time to study for supplementary exam"
LOL!!!
dai la

p/s sorry that all i can talk about these few days are about exams. thats only because my LIFE revolves around exams -_-"
and the will to pass hahaha

BOO HOOOO

there's not one thing i've looked forward to THIS MUCH since i stepped on melbourne ground early in the year.

and it's only been 5-ish months since i got here -_-"

SOOOOO can't wait for the last blasted paper to come runnin' round the corner.
no time for walking or rolling.
running is ideal.

erh, so it's not a paper. it's a half-hour practical exam.
which i guess is a good thing...means i don't have to sit there for 2 hours staring at words woo hoo!!
it's 4 days away anyways. tad early to be feeling excited over it LOL.
i am so sick of studying.
and i feel so sad.
feel sad for me please.
hahaha.

i'm goin' ravin' mad.

RETAIL THERAPY I NEED YOU!!!

Friday, May 29, 2009

Dear You,

It's okay to let it all out.
But don't rush it; healing takes time.
And it's okay to feel what you feel.
Even after all this time, when you think everyone else has gotten it handled.
You're you.
I know words aren't doing much for you lately...
Words are just for you to know that you have friends around you.
Family in community.
They're just a reminder that there are people who care and would give you all the help you need.
In all that seems hopeless, hold hope.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SIGNIFICANT.

What an eye-opener indeed

Went on the 'soup van' last night.
In essence it's a van...
that goes around the city to give food to the poor/homeless.
The food that go into it are leftovers from treat vans selling sandwiches and sweets to corporate people. SOUP was homemade. sure, it's not the best-tasting soup in the world...it didn't take 1 hour to make, but it sure was a labor of love. and, get this, one lady makes banana bread EVERY WEEK to give to those in need. the look on their faces when they hear you've got dessert sure tells you how much it means to them.
Anyways.
I was on the van that went 'inside' which is for the people who need food but live in shelters.
very very shabby shelters.
Imagine living your life in a room...sharing a shower and a toilet with everyone else on that floor. every single day.

I think it's been a very very long time ago since they've felt embarrassed about getting help from volunteers. I want to know their stories. Who they've been; what led them here. I'm sure no one wants to be in this situation...and even if they don't seem all that hopeful, surely they are hoping. And i pray that there's enough hope to go around. Some of them seem like they're so ready to surrender the rest of their lives to this fate. i hope its not the case. but it's easy for me to say; how can i possibly fathom what they are going through?

But...the most confronting situation was when we handed out blankets and food to those sleeping at the power station. in the cold. there was this man who was SO. YOUNG. and he kinda looks like hoobastank's lead singer. ok he REALLY does! so anyways. u can easily imagine him being a regular guy...construction worker, office worker, whatever. and here he was. sleeping on a bench in the winter chill. taking soup from a van. it was so heartbreaking how he was so so so so grateful for what we were doing for them.
i'm not even sure i can be that truly grateful for a bed. blanket. warmth. food. not until i am in his place. it's just so easy for us to take the little things for granted. cliche. but true.

And what's worse....i never knew these shelters housing all these people in need were in the city. right opposite from where i go to uni everyday. all these big townhouses were inside housing so many ppl. it's easy for ppl to say 'oh, at least the government's giving them a place to stay and ppl knock on their doors to give them food'...that their lives are good. but heck. who in the world wants to be in their position anyways? can you even survive on the barest of essentials?

What a look into the world i had never come close to seeing. What i never knew was so widespread in this city.

Kudos to the dedicated soup makers who do this every day.

I love the sound of horses' hooves on cobbled streets

Just finished watching SWEENEY TODD,
tale of the barber from hell.

And i THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!!!!

Perhaps all my expectations (or lack thereof) contributed to this lol.

Everyone said it was crap waaad.

Yea, but i still wanted to watch it anyways cause of...ya noe...undying curiosity and all. :p

Somehow before popping the dvd in, i kinda expected myself to like it cause everyone around me hated it with a passion :(

I LOVED the songs,

Story was quite meh but okay la.

Johnny Depp was quite meh also but okay la also.

And the poor dood i only remembered as professor snape throughout the whole movie was erh. snape-ey.

Okay, now i wonder why i was so excited over it. hahahaha.

it really WAS a great movie! although i can't seem to find the reasons why anymore :S

Just gotta say, though, that eating pasta whilst watching it is NOT really the brightest of ideas.

Oh, one other thing...the little kid in the movie looked like a miniature version of ZHI EN'S BROTHAAAA. oh my gosh. no kiddin. go watch and see!
